Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are your business hours?
A: We’re open Monday thru Friday 7am to 4pm, and Saturday 8am to 11:30 am.
Q: Where is your business located?
A: Our address is 1802 S Park Street, Madison, WI. We’re ¾ of a mile north of the beltline by the rail road tracks next to the old Thorstad Chevrolet dealership. Our sign is out on Park Street; just follow the gravel driveway to the end.
Q: What does your business recycle?
A: We recycle anything that’s made primarily of Metal. Steel, iron, appliances, cars, copper, copper wire, brass, radiators, lead, auto batteries, aluminum, stainless steel catalytic converters, etc…if it’s metal we’ll buy it from you.
Q: What won’t you recycle?
A: We won’t take anything that isn’t metal. No plastics, cardboard, wood, glass, electronics, trash, etc. Also, we don’t accept the following metal items:
- Manhole Covers (unless from government entity)
- Grocery Carts (unless proof of ownership)
- Beer Kegs (unless proof of ownership)
- Rail Road Steel (unless certificate from company)
- Gas/Propane/Oil/Fuel tanks (unless drained, valves off, and depressurized)
- Any Metal containing Mercury
- Precious Metals
Q: Do you accept appliances?
A: Yes we do. We pay out on Washers, Dryers, Ovens, Stoves, Hot Water Heaters, and Furnaces. Appliances that come with a $10 fee are Refrigerators, Freezers, AC Units, Dehumidifiers, Microwaves, and Dishwashers.
Q: Will you buy my old junk vehicle?
A: Yes, we will. Not only will we pay you top dollar for your vehicle, but we’ll also provide free towing as well. As a customer you have two options:
- You can drive your vehicle into our yard; we’ll weigh it, and pay you by the pound.
- Or we’ll give you a quote for your car, tow it away for free, and pay you on the spot.
Q: If I do want to junk my vehicle, what all do I
have to do?
A: Very simple. The only thing we need from you is the title for the vehicle. If for some reason you lost the title, we’ll require your driver’s license and we prefer to see some other proof of ownership (registration, insurance) to fill out a Bill of Sale for the vehicle. Otherwise we handle draining all the fluids, and Freon.
Q: Will your business remove and take away the metal
A: Generally no. We do not do the physical removal of the metal. However with large quantities of metal (1000s of lbs), we can provide dumpsters to businesses, residential, and random places where metal is a by-product of demolition, construction, and various clean up jobs. For large jobs, we can provide a clam truck that can physically pick up the metal, place it in semi trailers, and haul it away. Call for quotes.
Q: How does your metal recycling dumpster service
A: We will supply businesses, residential, or basically anyone that has scrap metal a dumpster to recycle. We can provide you with a dumpster temporarily, or on a permanent exchange basis. The service is very affordable, and efficient:
- Call us, and let us know where, when, and how long you need a dumpster.
- We’ll deliver the dumpster, and you fill it with whatever metal you have.
- When it’s full, call All Metals Recycling and we’ll either pick it up, or exchange it for another dumpster.
- When the project is done and we have the dumpster back and all your metal scrapped, we’ll cut you a check for the weight of your product and mail it to you.
Q: Can we buy scrap metal from you?
A: We don’t resell any of the metal that’s in our yard to the public. It takes too much time and space to set certain items aside and is too big of a safety risk for our customers.
Q: Do you have any parts for my car?
A: No, we do not part out any vehicle that comes into our lot, however our sister companies under the same ownership do part out vehicles and can get you what you need. Call us and ask for more information
Q: How does the vehicle scale work?
A: When the scale is empty, ignore the stoplight and simply drive your vehicle onto the scale and stop. When you see the stoplight flash green, that means we have your weight and you can go back into the yard to drop off your metal. When you have completed dropping off your metal you do the same procedure on the way out, and then come into the office to collect your payment. It is important to remember that everyone in the vehicle that weighs-in must weigh-out. Also, whatever metal you drop off gets radioed to the office so there is no need to stop and tell the office what metal you have.
Q: How much will you pay me, or what are your prices?
A: We do not list our prices since they change daily, however feel free to call us for top dollar up-to-date pricing.
Q: Will you just tow my vehicle for me?
A: No, the only time we tow cars is after we purchase them for scrap.
Q: Once we get into your yard, will you unload the
metal for me?
A: Yes, we can. We got several different pieces of equipment that can help unload your metal. Everything from large cranes with grapples and magnets to small forklifts, there’s really nothing we can’t handle. We just ask that if we are unloading your vehicle/trailer with a piece of equipment that you and your passengers get out of the vehicle and stand in front of it away from the unloading process.
